How to waste a whole morning at work

Arrive at work slightly before 8am so that you won't miss the sign up for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler.

Start registering and despite the slowness of the site, complete the process with no issues.

Text your friends to remind them to sign up.

Email your running group to remind them to sign up (have I mentioned I created my own group?).

Help your coworker who hasn't been able to get to the site.

Hit refresh a bazillion times until the site starts working again.

Start the registration for your coworker.

Get her credit card and ID.

Get a text from your friend that she was able to register.

Finish the registration for your coworker.

Receive a text from another friend that he overslept.

Offer to sign him up.

Get him to text you his DOB and t-shirt size.

Visit evite.com to get his address from a BBQ he threw.

Hit refresh a bazillion times until the site starts working again.

Register him and have the site crash before the confirmation page.

Text him to check his email to confirm that it went through.

IM your other coworker convincing her to register.

Look for training plans and send it to her to show that it's really not that bad.

Go visit your running group to see who else was able to register for it.

Refresh every few minutes to see more and more people who were able to get in.

Look at your calendar and countdown the weeks, deciding that January 25th should be your last slacking off date, in order to start the 10 week training plan for the 10 miler.

Wonder why you only need 10 weeks to train.

Start typing this blog.

Go back to the running group and see that 14 people were able to get in.

Go back to the site and see that registration closed before 11am.

Text your friend to see if he was able to register.

Find out he missed the sign up.

Find out that your other coworker couldn't register either.

Look at the clock, realize it's 11am and you should probably get some work done.

Reluctantly accept that the most exciting part of my day is already gone.

My morning was practically the same but with less work. I registered myself and one other friend.

Not everyone on my team made it, though.

See you there!
